If you still have your sanity intact and are of the rational type, you will see that we are not quite done explaining what a human being is and how we come to be.
Science says that it is the brain that controls it all.
Everything we experience comes from the brain. The experience itself is a by-product of the activity up there. Or an illusion, or something that has jumped into the brain from the outside, or swirls inside microtubules, which are small carbon tubes found everywhere inside there.
Says science, but it does not know.
We measure electrical activity and find – a certain but far from complete – correspondence between thoughts, behaviours and brain signals. We also understand that we are nowhere near understanding what is going on.
So let's look at two of the body's most essential organs.
The heart begins beating 22 days after conception and is the first organ to start functioning (
ref).
The development of the brain begins about a week later (weeks 4-5) as the cerebellum starts to take shape. At seven weeks, the first nerve cells form in the spinal cord, and at eight weeks, the first electrical activity in the brain begins (
ref).
These are still experiences in the universal spirit. The Experiencer gets the notion, through countless cycles of emergence, that cells are formed. The cells form a heart.
The heart is thus the first slightly larger conception the fetus makes and experiences – long before dissociation occurs. It is «closest» to who you are. In a way, your spirit experiences the body and the environment through the heart.
Just as time, as soon as it was conceptualised, followed in all later interpretations and experiences – the heart now does the same in experiencing the further development of the individual.
The heart plays a significant role also for us fully developed people. It is the engine of the body machinery, but we also tend to say that the heart contains «true» emotions. That's how we experience it.
When we do not receive love, it hurts in the heart. When we are frightened, the heart makes a leap. When we are excited, it tingles. When we are insecure, it feels like unrest – in the heart.
Our most profound experiences are felt in the heart. That is not a very scientific statement. I have no data to support it, except for common sense. So I leave it up to you to consider whether it should be taken seriously.
With the brain, it is similar, but the complexity is extremely much greater.
In a physicalist science paradigm, it is claimed that the world consists of matter. Our brain, which must also be material, is connected to sensory organs that register the surroundings. From this arises consciousness – from the wet and warm brain mass, full of electrical and chemical signals to an extreme extent.
Says traditional science.
No one can explain how this happens or is at all possible.
In our idealistic science paradigm, the opposite is true. The brain is an abstract notion that is simultaneously experienced. We conceive of electrical and chemical impulses and try to understand what they mean through the process of emergence.
It is a wild, enormously complex and insanely rich data stream.
The evolution of the brain must have begun about 520 million years ago, perhaps with a few glimpses.
It must have happened the same as when the Experiencer, at the start of the universe, interpreted a few «points» as time and space, many points as accumulations, accumulations as patterns, patterns as particles, particles as matter and matter as objects.
Inside a primitive creature a few hundred million years ago, a brain has probably developed in small steps spanning countless generations and over a very long time.
«Something» resembled a synapse. Synapses became «neurons». Neurons connected and formed clusters. It was all «alive», moving, and the spirit – the dissociated creature – experienced changes, signals.
They were interpreted as electromagnetic.
Why?
Well, because the Experiencer already knew about signals, photons, light – and had conceptualised them as «electromagnetism», which we discussed in the physics chapter.
Have you ever wondered about this? I have.
What?
As mentioned, I did electronics as a kid. I thought a lot about power and voltage. It was about radio waves and electrons in wires made of metals.
Water does not conduct electricity. The sticky brain mass does not either. Maybe you can force a few milliamps through from ear to ear by exposing your skull to a few thousand volts.
But that's not what we see going on in the brain.
It processes approx. 100 Gbit every second. The data results in experiences that are incredibly nuanced and well-structured. The brain has a level of detail and complexity beyond our comprehension.
And it is electrochemical!
Chemistry transforms to create electrical voltage and vice versa.
The brain is a perfect synthesis between something abstract – electromagnetism – and something material – a wet brain mass.
How will physicalism explain such a thing?
In our idealistic worldview, it's all about interpretations, knowledge. Then this is trivial to explain.
The brain is an illusion generator and an experiencing machine.
It is itself a notion that creates an expanded, emergent notion of you and the world. That is how it has to be when everything is fundamentally experience.
The brain then works backwards, reversed, compared to what most people think.
It projects ideas and notions as something physically experienced. The brain turns thoughts into «reality».
Actually, the thoughts and ideas – the knowledge – are real, authentic, original, while the projected universe is a perceived notion.
This is wild.
I find it completely insane, but that's how I believe it is.
You are welcome to this insight.
It changes everything.
Really?
